Painful puns aside, you care about what happens in your suburb. So don’t forget that 10 March is the deadline for input to your local board plans.
What should you be looking at? Well, the things that concern or excite you about your local area, obviously. And praise your Local Board for things that have gone well – and make a difference by suggesting positive changes (too many people only raise their voices when there’s something they want stopped). We hope you also:
- Support any cycling projects your board may have in their plan (even if its just wooly wording – tell them you want them to act)
- Ask for any cycle projects you want them to progress (they now have a small amount of funding for these things – and as the Waitemata and Puketapapa Local Boards have shown, this can be enough to build some local cycleways on their own)
- As them to create a Greenways plan for walking & cycling routes through their area, or support the one they may already have
So don’t wait – head over to the Council website, and tell your local politicians: “I want my suburb to become more friendly for cycling!”
