What’s Bike Kitchen all about?
• WORK WITH OUR MECHANICS TO LEARN HOW TO FIX UP YOUR OWN BIKE
• BUILD A BIKE FROM SCRATCH WITH NEW & USED PARTS
• A PLACE TO DONATE YOUR OLD BIKE. THE TEAM WILL FIX IT UP AND ENSURE IT FINDS A NEW HOME WHERE IT IS NEEDED
• RECOVERING AND FIXING UP OLD BIKES (SOURCED VARIOUSLY FROM THE COMMUNITY RECYCLING NETWORK, INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS, AND THE EXISTING STOCK FROM BIKES FOR REFUGEES)
The Bike Kitchen is a community bike project that brings the beloved Bikes for Refugees programme to a new home in Mt Roskill/ Puketāpapa – and combines forces with an existing programme at RYZ: Roskill Youth Zone, whose bike workshops for youth will continue alongside the monthly (4th) Saturday and 2nd Wednesday evening fix-it days.
The Bike Kitchen is currently led by PATH and supported by Global Missions, Auckland Transport, and the Puketāpapa Local Board.
You’ll find the permanent Bike Kitchen container located on the grounds of Roskill Youth Zone/Wesley community centre, 740 Sandringham Rd Extn, Mt Roskill, Auckland.
There are many ways to get involved. There’s no such thing as too many cooks at the Bike Kitchen – in fact, you might say “many hands make a bike work!”
