A quick and simple one here: Auckland Council is intending to change Federal Street (the little north-south street next to SkyCity) into a shared space between Wellesley Street West, and Victoria Street West.
Cycle Action likes shared spaces, and we think it’s great they are spreading. One day we will wake up, and the whole of the City Centre will be for people! Okay, way to go there, but another step in the right direction. Why don’t you tell them what you think of the concept?
CAA submitted in favour, and among other things, asked to extend the treatment further along Federal Street than just the SkyCity block, and to make sure that two-way cycling is legal in the shared space (restricting that to just the one-way car direction would be highly unintuitive).
