The City Centre Masterplan is intended to be the key guiding document to achieve the world’s most liveable city in the context of Auckland’s central city. This should be achieved by putting people first, in a number of areas.
We consider that transport is the most important of those areas, as the current dominance of the private car, and the encircling motorways, is the biggest factor constraining a more liveable city centre.
We are therefore pleased to see that the draft document places a high importance on walking and cycling.
There is a lot to like about the masterplan discussion document. Read Cycle Action’s full submission here
Submissions are due by Friday 17 June.
