Bike Auckland Annual General Meeting (AGM)
November 19, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Bike Auckland members & supporters are warmly invited to our Annual General Meeting (AGM), which not only takes care of key business, but also famously highlights the year’s most exciting developments for people on bikes & gives you a peek of what’s on the horizon. We will have presentations from our Chair, Karen Hormann as well as key committee members and the wider Bike Auckland whānau.
All roles on the board will be up for reelection as an agenda item at the AGM. To put yourself or somebody else forward for a role on the Board, contact us in advance with your nomination for Chair, Deputy Chair, Secretary, or Treasurer. You can also suggest items to add to the agenda. Contact us at: info@bikeauckland.org.nz. The current Chair Karen Hormann, Deputy Chair Duncan Laidlaw and Treasurer Juan Espinosa have confirmed they will stand again for their respective positions in 2023. Our Secretary position is currently vacant.
Please note that although we welcome anyone to attend the AGM, if you want to be able to vote you need to be a registered Bike Auckland member and attending in person. You can sign up as a member through our website. We currently have an AGM special – sign up for a year here and get three months free.
We appreciate your support to help us to keep doing all that we do for people on bikes in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Save the date, and RSVP via Humanitix below so we can keep in touch with attendees via email.

Where’s the bike parking?
Park your bike at the back of Studio One in the courtyard. Come through the vehicle entrance. The gate will be shut during the event so your bike won’t be visible from the street, but we recommend you still bring your own bike lock.
If you’re coming to the Flagship, there are Locky Docks at the entrance of the Jellicoe Street car park, or bring it onto the deck where we’ll be.
What’s the bike ride going to be like?
We invite you to join us on a guided group ride through Auckland Central. It will mostly be flat and down hill, the ride will be split 50/50 on the road and protected cycleways. We will have many points to stop and reconvene, ride slowly together in a group, and have amazing ride marshalls to guide you during the ride. Please dress for any type of Auckland weather!
If bad weather is expected, we will assess and let you know via email and via the Facebook event (so please register on Humanitix) if the ride component is going ahead.
What do the board do, and what’s the time commitment?
The core board role of attending meetings, reading the material before and after, and liaising with the board and crew between meetings probably averages 5-6 hours per month. All board member roles and co-opted board positions are voluntary.
Find out more about each of them have a read on these blogs:
We would also like each board member to take on some kind of project over their tenure, which could encompass board policy work, advocacy initiatives or supporting the crew or volunteers in some capacity. This would be dependent on skills and what’s going on – approximately 10-20 hours per annum.
If you have any questions, please reach out to us at events@bikeauckland.org.nz, otherwise we’ll see you on the day!
