Ghost Bike Art Installation
Sunday November 17 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Sunday 17 November is World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims.
To commemorate this sobering day, Bike Auckland is installing an art installation of 59 white-painted ghost bikes in St Patrick’s Square. 59 is the number of people who have died while riding bikes on the road in the last 5 years in Aotearoa NZ.
This installation draws attention to the deaths and serious injuries that will be the result of reversing the safer speeds laws (increasing road speed back to 50km/h in many areas where it was reduced to 30km for safety reasons).
Come along and pay your respects. You can bring along flowers or bright coloured ribbons to add to the installation.
A big thank you to Greenpeace for giving us a place to prepare the installation, and to Bunnings for providing the materials.
Location: St Patrick’s Square, Auckland CBD
