Quickpost: Cyclists going upstairs

1 min read

Point Resolution BridgeSome days ago, the new Point Resolution Bridge (crossing the rail line and Tamaki Drive near Parnell Baths) was opened.

The bridge neatly also includes a cycle push channel – a great feature to enable cyclists to push their bikes up/down stairs too steep for a ramp. Here’s a photo of Local Board member Christopher Dempsey showing it off. He reports it works well!

Cycle push ramps / rails / channels – whatever you prefer to call them – are relatively common in places like Europe, but have been very rare here. Having them around here and hopefully working like a charm is also important to ensure we can push for more to be rolled out to train stations for example!
