A great spot to take pre-schoolers during term time (while the big kids are at school) or for the bigger kids to go and get some practice on a BMX track, this is a bit of a hidden treasure.
And there are lots of extra activities if you want to make a bigger excursion. Options for the extras include high ropes, indoor climbing wall, skate park, public pool and a playground!
The pump track is at 48 Mahara Road, Birkenhead and the entrance is through the big gates into the Birkenhead Pool & Leisure Centre.
The Leisure Centre is on the right, then the skate park, the pool and the high ropes. Continue on past all of these, further on down the drive (the cricket club will be on your left as you head down).
There is plenty of parking at the top of the pump track, get out there and head down.
The track is loads of fun, with the undulations making it more interesting and challenging than just a flat surface.
The sign says its not for beginners, so use your discretion. Littlies can have loads of fun on their balance bikes when its quiet, and older kids will love challenging themselves too. It’s not suitable for scooters as they tend to get “beached” at the top of the rises.
If you’re looking for a toilet, they are by the playground, near the gates at the entranceway.
Other activities include:
If you want to go to the pool, check in at the leisure centre before you head down. Kids under 16 years old are free to go in the pool, and a supervising adult is only $1 (more if you’re getting in the pool too).
This is also the spot to go if you want to do in the indoor climbing wall or high ropes.
