Here’s a sign of great things to come – the official blessing of the first section of the planned Te Whau Pathway. It’s a small section, but every path starts somewhere! Swing by for a sausage sizzle, speeches, and even a bouncy castle.

Following presentations by Bike Auckland, Brake, and the Australasian College of Road Safety, we’re very pleased that Auckland Council maintained its commitment to keeping tamariki (children) safe and voted to formally oppose the Speed Rule. The Central Government will still have the final say on how they proceed with the Speed Rule – and it’s important they hear from you by midnight on July 11.

Transport Minister Simeon Brown’s proposed new “Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits Rule 2024”, often called the Draft Speed Rule, will make streets more dangerous, increase congestion, and increase emissions. Bike Auckland is urging you to voice your opposition to the draft Speed Rule by Thursday, 11 July.
